You are not alone

When you fall deeply into credit card debt or any form of debt, there's a feeling of hopelessness, loneliness, even to the point where you might start to wonder: 'Why me?' Well, you should know that that feeling is shared by many Americans today. Are you having trouble making the minimum payments on your credit card? Or trying your best to stay out of debt only to fall right back into it?

Well, the feeling is mutual throughout this country. Experts have looked on as the consumer debt in this coutry has soared into the trillions with the average consumer carrying thousands of dollars of credit card debt around and the average college graduate owing over $100,000 in student loan repayments. One problem with this? Five years ago, interest rates were uncharacteristically low in America. Since then, they're started rising again or will rise again, which could spell disaster for many of the people in this country.

Why so much debt? Easy!

Credit is something that Americans and people of all nations take for granted. Just look at the U.S. government! The national debt increases by millions of dollars each and every year, so why should the people of the country be any different? Back in 2003, over a million households in America actually had to file for bankruptcy, a policy often reserved for worst case scenarios. So why is America amassing so much debt? Well, credit card companies often offer low to 0% introductory interest rates to people with good credit. But once these introductory rates are over, the rates jump all the way back up and many people struggle to ever pay the card back down. This is the quickest and easiest way to fall into trouble with debt.

Getting out debt-free

While many American households continue to struggle with debt, there are options out there. You just need to know where to look. Some options like credit card debt consolidation and bankruptcy could help in the short-term, but as a country, America needs to fight the crisis with debt. Spending less through the use of credit cards is one huge step towards financial freedom. Americans need to stop relying on credit cards so heavily to make purchases that they would not otherwise be able to make. If the country continues down the path it is currently on, it could find itself in serious trouble. Do your part today to fight debt and find a solution to the problem. The entire country depends on it.
